Somali Enlight and Development Organization (SEDO) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization established in the spirit of humanity and social development. SEDO was established in 2015 by group humanitarian professionals who have been in the field of human and social development for more than 30 years. SEDO operates with an unwavering commitment to the principles of compassion and societal advancement.
Driven by a vision of broader impact, SEDO harbors ambitions to extend its operational reach into the Horn of Africa, specifically targeting Ethiopia. In this new terrain, the organization pledges to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, striving to ensure that their needs are not only heard but also addressed through the delivery of top-tier services. SEDO’s approach to community development is characterized by its cost-effective strategies, finely tuned to maximize impact while minimizing resource expenditure. With a focus on Education, Social Protection, and youth engagement and entrepreneurship, SEDO employs a multifaceted approach aimed at nurturing holistic growth within communities.
Through tailored initiatives, the organization seeks to bolster educational infrastructure, strengthen social safety nets, and cultivate an environment conducive to youth empowerment and entrepreneurial endeavors.
In addition to program implementation, SEDO is dedicated to fortifying the foundational structures of community-based organizations. This entails conducting comprehensive project baselines to assess needs and priorities, developing robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track progress and measure impact, and providing organizational capacity building support to enhance project cycle management and logical frameworks. SEDO’S MISSION STATEMENT
To build Capacities of our beneficiaries and develop partner institutions in emergency preparedness, building resilient community through innovative development approaches, livelihood interventions, peace building initiatives, increase equitable access and quality education, safeguard and protect vulnerable groups, strengthen healthcare and nutrition support and access to safe and clean water, sanitation, and hygiene for vulnerable communities with the goal of economic empowerment, community advocacy and social protection in the Horn of Africa.
