Somali Enlight and Development Organization (SEDO Africa) has played a critical role in advancing humanitarian and development efforts across eastern Ethiopia. Rooted in principles of community empowerment, inclusivity, and resilience, the organization has consistently focused on addressing the underlying drivers of instability while improving access to services and opportunities for marginalized populations.
Among its key areas of engagement, peacebuilding and governance stand out as priority interventions. Recognizing that sustainable development cannot be achieved in the absence of peace, trust, and accountable governance systems, SEDO Africa has designed and implemented initiatives that empower local communities to prevent and resolve conflict, strengthen social cohesion, and increase access to justice and public services.
At the center of this initiative is the Peacebuilding and Governance Coordinator role, which anchors the program by providing technical leadership, coordinating local and external partners, and ensuring that all interventions remain context-sensitive, inclusive, and locally driven. This role ensures that peacebuilding is not a top-down directive but a process built on local ownership and cultural legitimacy.

Strategic Objectives.
- Strengthen capacities of local leaders, youth, women, and CSOs to prevent and manage disputes.
- Promote inclusive governance by supporting transparent community decision-making and civic participation.
- Improve access to simple justice and conflict-resolution mechanisms at the grassroots level.
- Create sustainable linkages between traditional conflict-resolution mechanisms and formal governance structures.
